Youth aged 15-24 can meet with a recruiter from Starbucks at the Calgary Youth Employment Centre, on Thursday, January 7 from 2-4 p.m. Youth can find out information about working at Starbucks, what qualities they are looking for, locations hiring and about the hiring process.

How long have you been in business?

Starbucks opened its first location in Seattle in 1971. We expanded into Canada March 1, 1987 opening our first store in Vancouver.

How many locations do you have in Calgary and nationally/internationally? What locations are hiring locally in Calgary and area?

Starbucks has 105 company operated locations in Calgary and is hiring across the city. Starbucks operates in 68 countries across the world with over 23,000 locations!

How many people does your organization employ? How many locally?

Starbucks employs about 1600 partners in the Calgary area and over 300,000 partners wear the green apron across the world.

What type of positions do you offer?

Starbucks has full time and part time positions available, from entry level baristas all the way up to store managers! The opportunities are endless!

Describe your hiring and interview process?

Once candidates apply online, a store manager can reach out to you to set up an interview. From there they will conduct a behavioural based interview in the store.

What do you look for in an employee?

Being able to connect, engage and build relationships is what we look for in a partner… we can teach you everything else you need to know!

What type of education/training/equipment do you require?

Starbucks provides full training on everything in the store, no experience is required!

What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?

Our minimum age requirement for Baristas is 16 and shift supervisors are 18.

Provide a wage range for entry level positions.

Baristas start at $11.70/ hour plus full benefits (full time or part time!)

What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?

Schedules are very flexible so it is easy to work around school hours. Minimum hours per week are 16 which can be split up throughout the week. Shifts can be anytime between 5am-11pm Monday to Sunday.

Is a uniform provided or do employees have to pay for it?

Starbucks provides the green aprons but the remaining items of our dress code should be provided by the partner.
