TJX has operated in Canada for over 25 years.

How many locations do you have in Calgary and nationally/internationally? What locations are hiring locally in Calgary and area?
In Canada we have 245 Winners stores, 101 Homesense stores, and 41 Marshalls stores. Globally we have 3,594 stores in six countries.

How many people does your organization employ? How many locally?
We employ 18,000 people in Canada and over 1000 in Calgary alone. Globally we have over 200,000 associates in six countries.

What type of positions do you offer?
We offer a variety of employment opportunities including full time, part time, seasonal and contract opportunities both in our stores and in our offices and distribution centres.

What are the benefits of working for your company?
All employees and their families receive a staff discount in all Winners, Homesense and Marshalls stores. TJX Canada provides eligible full time associates with tuition assistance for post secondary education that directly relates to their current or targeted future positions with the company. TJX Canada has a scholarship program to assist associates and their children to pursue post secondary education in college, university or vocational technical school.

TJX Canada strongly believe in developing talent from within. This includes identifying and developing our Associates' unique skills and talents to ensure both personal and professional growth. We have internal self directed programs such as Associate, Co-ordinator and Assistant Manager Training Programs to develop your knowledge and skills.

TJX Canada supports hundreds of charities across the country. Among these charities, we are involved primarily with the following three:

  • Sunshine Dreams for Kids: which makes dreams come true for children challenged by severe physical disabilities or life threatening illnesses.
  • Canadian Women's Foundation: which is Canada's only national public foundation dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls. The foundation raises funds to support programs that focuses on: ending violence against women, moving low income women out of poverty and building resiliency in girls.
  • And Kids Help Phone.

Describe your hiring and interview process?
All applicants who pass our resume screening process are then pre-screened and go through a first interview, and potentially a second interview. This applies to all positions.

What do you look for in an employee?
Previous retail experience is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organizational and time management skills.

What type of education/training/equipment do you require?
We provide on the job training for many of our positions.

What is the minimum age required to work for your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?
All associates must be a minimum of 16 years of age in any of our stores in Canada.

What are the hours of the business and general shift times? Are there a minimum number of hours someone needs to work per week? Is there flexibility regarding school schedules?
Shifts vary by store, we expect candidates to have full availability, but are flexible around student schedules.
