Vecova offers services to people with disabilities so that they can live as contributing and valued members of the community. Vecova Recreation Centre has been providing for the recreation and leisure needs of the Calgary community since 1977. The Center is a public facility that offers a wide variety of activities; swimming, preschool programs, birthday parties, fitness classes, day camps and first aid/CPR course. The pool water is maintained at 34.5 degrees and is perfect for people of all ages.

What is your hiring process?

There is a competition for vacancies, positions are posted on Vecova website www.vecova.ca . Selected applicants are invited for an interview; two professional references are completed, once hired a current police Security Clearance is also required. When the new employee is hired they are provided with an orientation to their position by the hiring supervisor.

What do you look for in Employees?

Vecova, is looking for applicants who have the skills and experience required for the job. Each position is unique; and the qualifications for each position vary.

What type of education/training/equipment do you require?

Party Leaders: Enrolled in high school or post secondary studies, current Standard First Aid and CPR Level "B", experience working with children in learning/recreational environment

Instructor: Current Water Safety Instructor, Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C" Automated External Defibrillator certification.

Instructor/Lifeguard: Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C", National Lifeguard Service award, Water Safety Instructor and Automated External Defibrillator certification.

Recreation Team Leader: Enrolled in post secondary studies, current Standard First Aid and CPR.

How old does someone have to be to work for your company?

16 years old and older

How much will employees get paid?

$10.75 an hour up to $16.00 an hour, hourly rates depend on position, experience and length of employment at Vecova
